Elizabeth F. Ray

Elizabeth F. Ray, 76, of 123 Country Club Acres, a lifelong resident of Newton, died Thursday evening, Feb. 15, at Des Moines General Hospital following a stroke.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jerome Egel, pastor of the Holy Trininty Lutheran Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Sunday. Visitation with the famliy will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials to a fund in her name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Paul Ray of Newton and Delmar Ray of Mingo; two daughters, Darlene (Mrs. Jesse) Elliott of Newton and Mary Belle (Mrs. Bill) Conrad of Wasola, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Imogene (Mrs. Everett) Osborn of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Troy, in 1983 and a sister in infancy.

Mrs. Ray was a homemaker.

The daughter of Chris and Mary Osten, she was born Feb. 18, 1913 in rural Newton and attended Newton schools.

She was married to Troy H. Ray Feb. 18, 1930 in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, February 1990
