William J. Tilton

WATAUGA, Texas - Funeral services for William J. Tilton, 74, of 7021 Quail Meadow Dr., Watauga, Texas, formerly of Newton, were held today, Nov. 9, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Keller, Texas. Burial will be in Searles Valley Cemetery in Trona, Calif.

He died Thursday at his home.

Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas, handled arrangements.

Survivors are two sons, William of Denton, Texas, and Michael of Taiwan; four daughters, Jolene Huss and Renee Harvey, both of Watauga, Texas, Leslie Newman of Trona, Calif., and Theresa Liles of Mojave, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Allen Rodine of Hollywood, Maine.

Mr. Tilton, a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275 of Amarillo, Texas, was an officer and trustee of the Elks Club in Trona, Calif., a past officer of the Newton American Legion and an alumnus of Dowling College in Des Moines.

He was a farm equipment salesman.

Mr. Tilton, a resident of Newton for 15 years, was born in Oskaloosa and was raised in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1992
