NEWTON, IA. - Pamela Jo Thorson, 36, of Newton died of a heart ailment Friday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with burial in the Sully Cemetery.

Ms. Thorson was a lifelong resident of Newton. She worked in the art department of Vernon Co. and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Chinese Shar-Pei Dog Club of America.

Survivors include her parents, Don "Barney" and Margaret Elscott of Newton.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League or Progress Industries. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, July 1991

Pamela Jo Thorson

Pamela Jo Thorson, 36, of 1214 E. 15th St. S., a lifelong resident of Newton, died Friday morning, July 5, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Animal Rescue League or Progress Industries will be accepted.

Survivors are her parents Don "Barney" and Margaret Elscott of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a half sister, Connie Louise Elscott.

Mrs. Thorson, an employee of the art department of the Vernon Co., was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Chinese Shar-Pei Club of America.

The daughter of Donald Udell and Margaret Louise Ogden Elscott, she was born September 21, 1954 in Newton and was a 1972 graduate of Newton community high school. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1991
