James Neal

James Irvin Neal, 48, of Chicago, formerly of Mingo, died Thursday, Sept. 16 at his home in Chicago of complications of pneumonia.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Union Chapel Cemetery in Ira. The Rev. Bob Gamble, pastor of the Mingo United Methodist Church, will conduct the services.

Memorials may be left in his name.

Survivors are his sister, Barbara (Mrs. Bob Leonard) of Mingo and two brothers, Bob Neal of Newton and Darrell and Connie Neal of Norwalk, Ohio; six nieces and nephews and five great-nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are his mother, Alta Neal of Mingo. He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew.

Mr. Neal was a member of the Mingo Methodist Church. He served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. he was employed as a project manager of combined Insurance Co., a division of ACN Corp. in Chicago.

He is the son of Louis and Alta Inglis Neal. He was born June 20, 1945, in Jasper County and was a 1963 graduate of Mingo Community School.

Mr. Neal lived in Mingo until 1966. He returned from the Army in 1969 and lived in Des Moines until moving to Chicago in 1980. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1993
