Maycel May Collins Purdy, 72, a resident of the Jasper County Care Facility, southeast of Newton, and a resident of Newton since 1974, died of heart failure Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the care facility.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. A. B. Sudbrock, pastor of the Newton Basptist Temple, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery after cremation.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Monday until time of services.

Memorials to the Jasper County Care Facility activity fund will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Francis E.; a son, Gene Collins of Davenport; and a brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Purdy had been employed at Progress Industries.

The daughter of Henry and Mary Mc Call Collins, she was born Dec. 9, 1920 in Putnam County, Mo.

She was married to Francis E. Purdy June 26, 1974. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1992
