Carl B. Parsons

Carl B. "Hank" Parsons, 85, of the Jasper County Care Facility, a life long resident of Jasper County, died Friday, July 31, of pneumonia at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Hinshaw, pastor of the Ashton Chapel, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the Jasper County Care Facility will be accepted.

Survivors are three sons, Daryle of Kellogg, Hollis of Jefferson City, Mo., and Norman of Milford; five daughters, Doris (Mrs. Jack) Perryman, Joanne (Mrs. Robert) Richards and Judy (Mrs. Coy) Bishop, all of Newton, Chrystal (Mrs. Robert) Townsend of Kellogg, and Bonnie (Mrs. Don) Bessman of Waterloo; 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Wanda (Mrs. George) Gearhart of Clearwater, Fla., and Beatrice (Mrs. Floyd) Wrider of Sun City, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gladys, two daughters, three sons, three brothers, four sisters and a grandchild in infancy.

Mrs. Parsons did general trucking work and was a telephone repairman.

The son of Oscar and Mae Mc Dermit Parsons, he was born June 2, 1902 in rural Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1987
