Fay D. Jackson

ROCK CREEK - Funeral services for Fay Donnovan Jackson, a resident of Rock Creek since 1978, were held Saturday, June 18, at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.

The Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, conducted services. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Melbourne.

Memorials to the Salvation Army will be accepted.

He died Thursday at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Survivors are three sisters, Beulah Kent of Southgate, Calif., Faith Barr of Denver, Colo., and Wilma Oaks of Bakersfield, Calif.; seven nieces; and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Claire and Harold.

Mr. Jackson owned and operated a jewelry shop for many years in Evanston, Ill., until it was destroyed by fire and then worked for a landscaping business and the Winnetka school district prior to his retirement when he moved to a farm in Rock Creek.

Mr. Jackson enjoyed raising goats and corgi dogs and attending sales and collecting.

The son of William and Minnie Groover Jackson, he was born March 14, 1909 in Grinnell, was educated in Rock Creek 5 School, west of Grinnell, and was graduated from Boulder (Colo.) High School.

He also had resided in Iowa City. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1994
