Leland A. "Pete" Schmidt age 79 of Portland, Tenn. died Monday, May 21, 2007.

He was born August 2, 1928 to the late John Henry and Beulah Ann (Patterson) Schmidt.

Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 25 from the Portland Funeral Chapel Pastor David Hartman officiating. Burial was at the Old Brush Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Mae (Sager) Schmidt of Portland; daughter, Lori Lee Schumacher of Davenport, IA, sons, Leland A. Schmidt, Jr. of Timberville, VA., Melvin K. (Leona) Schmidt of Davenport, IA, David I. (Mary) Schmidt of Atkinson, IL, John W. (Gail) Schmidt of Portland; sisters, Nadine Dee of Baxter, IA, Margaret Swalewell of Newton, IA, Joann Smith of Newton, IA; brother, Larry Schmidt of Baxter, IA. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
