SAN ANTONIO, Texas - John Dirk Van Ryswyk, 90, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Jasper and Polk Counties, died Wednesday, June 1, at the Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for John Dirk Van Ryswyk, 90, of San Antonio, Texas, a native and former resident of Prairie City, were held Monday, June 6, at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church.

The Rev. Isaac Meuzelaar of Pella, a retired pastor, conducted services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Van Ryswyk died Wednesday at the Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.

He is survived by his wife, D. Janet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters.

The son of Dirk and Dena Bierma Van Ryswyk, he was born Jan. 30, 1904 near Prairie City.

He was married to D. Janet Vander Leest Feb. 11, 1925 in Mitchellville.

An auto machanic in Prairie City and Des Moines, Mr. Van Ryswyk moved to San Antonio 25 years ago. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1994
