COLFAX - Funeral services for Richard Wesley Williams, 62, a lifelong resident of Colfax, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 2, at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax.

The Rev. Tom Carpe, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be Colfax Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

He died Monday at his home.

Survivors are his wife, Kay; a son, John, of Ames; two daughters, Donna (Mrs. Mike) O'Braza of Altoona and Barbara (Mrs. Raymond) Kinert of Prairie City; a brother, John "Jack" of Wyoming, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Williams, a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, Farmer's Market in Des Moines and Master Gardeners Association, had been employed in the porcelain department at the Maytag Co. prior to retiring December 1, 1993.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean conflict.

The son of Richard and Blanche Mc Cracken Williams, he was born July 3, 1931 in Colfax, was a 1949 graduate of Colfax Community High School and attended Texas A and M University in College Station and Drake University in Des Moines.

He was married to Kay Thompson in 1954 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1994
