COLFAX - Rudolph "Rudy" Nikolish, 71, of Colfax, a resident of Colfax since 1945, died Monday, Oct. 7, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. Michael Orthel, pastor of the Colfax United Methodist Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday and family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Mercy Hospice in Des Moines may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, June; a son, Gary a Burtonsville, Md.; and a daughter, Linda (Mrs. Bill) Redding of Colfax.

Also surviving are two brothers, Charles of Des Moines and Slavia of Brooklyn and two sisters, Rose (Mrs. Robert) Clark of Colfax and Nikki Castings of Colfax.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Nikolish was a retired Monroe Co. employee in Colfax and also was a partner in Rudy's and Charlie's Tavern in Colfax.

The son of Mike and Anna Nikolish, he was born November 20, 1919 in Olmitz.

He was in 1939 graduate of Williamson High School.

He was married to June Thomas June 29, 1950 in Newton.

Mr. Nikolish served with the Army in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II.

He was a member of the Colfax American Legion Post. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1991
