Junior E. White Dies Tuesday; Rites Thursday

Junior E. (Whitey) White, 53, of 903 E. 13th St. N., a resident of Newton since 1955, died Tuesday morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church.

The Rev. Ray Barnett, pastor of the church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Toland-Wallace Funeral Home after 11 a.m. today.

Memorial contributions to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Georgia; three sons, Larry of Mesa, Ariz., Ronald of Gibbs, Mo., and Bruce of Newton; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Gloria) Ekins of Newton and Mrs. Bruce (Beverly) Curtis of Ames; his mother, Mrs. Willie White of Bloomfield; and six grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Carl of Bloomfield, Everett Dwain of Davenport and J. O. of Des Moines; and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Helen) Bailey of Unionville, Mrs. Floyd (Lura) Darr of Lancaster, Mo., and Mrs. Neal (Barbara) Grindle of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Kenneth.

Mr. White was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a deacon, and was former leader of the Chi Rho Youth Group.

He had worked at the Pierce Furniture Store for 13 years and presently was employed at the Coast-to-Coast Store.

The son of Willie and Bessie Gillaspie White, he was born Feb. 18, 1920 in Davis County.

He was married to Georgia Crapson Dec. 25, 1947 in Glenwood, Mo. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, 1973
