Elizabeth Van Rees, 76, of Newton died of complications of multiple schlerosis Friday at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sully Christian Reformed Church, of which she was a member, with burial at the Sully Cemetery.
Mrs. Van Rees was born near Killduff and had lived in Newton 29 years. She retired from the community Locker Plant in Sully.
Survivors include a son, Leonard, and a daughter, Betty Schuring, both of Sully; two half-brothers, Albert Terpstra and Arnold Terpstra, both of Lynnville; a half-sister, Alice La Rosa of Wichita, Kan.; a step-brother, George Terpstra of Newton; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call all day today at VanDyk-Duven funeral Home in Pella, where the family will be present from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sully Christian Grade School or the MS Society. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 18, 1994

Elizabeth Van ReesFuneral services for Elizabeth Kingma Van Rees, 76, a resident of the Newton Health Care Center for the past 29 years, were held today, Nov. 21, at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.
The Rev. Lawrence J. Howerzyl, pastor of the church, conducted services.
Burial was in the Sully Cemetery.
Memorials to the Sully Christian Grade School or the Multiple Schlerosis Society will be accepted.
She died Friday at Skiff Medical Center.
Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Jenice of Sully; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Norman Schuring of Sully; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a half-sister; Alice La Rosa of Wichita, Kan.; two half-brothers, Albert Terpstra and Arnold Terpstra, both of Lynnville; and a step-brother, George Terpstra of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence, Aug. 28, 1942, a brother, Albert Kingma, a sister, Alma Terpstra, and a half-brother, John Terpstra.
Mrs. Van Rees, who formerly was employed as a cleaning lady for the Christian Reformed Church in Sully and boarded teacher in her home, later had worked at the Community Locker Plant.
She was a member of the Sully Christian reformed Church where she previously had been in the choir, the Ruth Circle and Golden Hour Societies.
The daughter of John and Wietske Visser Kingma, she was born Oct. 24, 1918 near Killduff and attended Black Oak Country Grade School and Lynnville High School.
She was married to Clarence Van Rees Aug. 18, 1936 in Lynnville. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1994.
