Funeral services for Marie D. Veenstra, 81, of Newton were held today, June 27, at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Pella.

The Rev. Isaac Meuzelaar conducted services. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Leighton.

Memorials to the American Heart Association will be accepted.

She died Thursday at the Skiff Medical Center.

Survivors are a brother, Henry Veenstra of Newton; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Neala Veenstra of Newton.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lambert, Ben and Herman Veenstra.

Miss Veenstra, a member of the Newton Christian reformed Church, had been a medical technician for a private laboratory in Des Moines.

The daughter of Henry C. and Dorthea Groenendyk Veenstra, she was born Dec. 10, 1912 in Leighton.
