Zella E. Patterson

NEWTON, IA. - Zella E. Patterson, 83, of Newton died of a heart ailment Sunday at Heritage Manor Care Center. Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Mrs. Patterson was born in Newton and retired as a teacher in rural Jasper County schools. she had been a member of Metz Community Church and Jasper County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are two sons, Robert of Mesa, Ariz., and Jack of West Des Moines; two daughters, E. Ramona Osborn of Newton and Joanne Lindsey of Hanover park, Ill.; three brothers, Leslie Snook, Clyde Snook and Francis Snook, all of Newton; two sisters, Esther Moffitt of Newton and Lois Koger of California; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 8 a.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
