John R. Bryan was born at Jamestown, Kentucky February 22, 1858 and moved to Iowa with his parents when nine years of age. He later moved to Arkansas and was married.

He died at Rogers, Arkansas on February 13, 1926 leaving a wife, two daughters and one son.
