Alice Cary Wilson was born November 23, 1858 at Galesburg Illinois and died in Des Moines November 18, 1925.

Her father’s name was Jesse D. Wilson, a second cousin of Woodrow Wilson.

Her mother’s name was Sarah Jenks, related to the Cary sisters. Ancestors on both sides were from Virginia. The family came to Prairie City when Alice was a child. Her mother died when Alice was 23 years old leaving a son Orville, age three years, who Alice cared for.

Another brother and sister died in young manhood and young womanhood.

Alice cared for her father until his death some years ago.

She also taught school for 50 years. All but ten years were in Des Moines.

Prof. A. D. Veach conducted the funeral services. Burial in Waveland Cemetery.
