Samuel N. Monasmith was born November 19, l835 in Washington Co., Pennsylvania and died March 15, 1924.

He was in the Civil War.

Married Mary C. Norris at Prairie City August 4, 1870. Three daughters - Mrs. H. S. Miller of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Charles Alger and Mrs. Hilda Lacy, both of Des Moines.

Burial in Westview Cemetery.
