Johannus Van Wyngarden was born in Schoonevord, Holland, November 3, 1839 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nicholas DeBoef at Oskaloosa, Iowa on March 25, 1923.

Came to Marion County, Iowa at 15 years of age.

Married Jennie Boot in November, 1864. She died February 4, 1890.

Eight children - Mrs. Anna VanderWert, St. Lawrence, S. D., Mrs. Marie DeBoef, Lacy, Ia., John Van Wyngarden of Manson, Ia., Mrs. Margaret Blom of Delta, Ia., Mrs. Irene French of Minneapolis, Minn., Ira Van Wyngarden of Prairie City, Mrs. Cora Schlosser of Great Falls, Montana, Mrs. Jennie DeBoef of Oskaloosa, Ia.

In 1893, he married Mrs. Artie DeBoef of Pella.

Two brothers - William of Newton, Ia. and Garrett of Oregon. One sister Mrs. DeWitt of Pella.

Burial in Forest Cemetery.
