Editor Monger Dead

C. H. Monger, the well known editor of the Anamosa Journal, died at his home on the 2nd, of typhoid pneumonia. Mr. Monger was a Democrat of the old school, a man of decided ability, and of many striking peculiarities. As a traveling companion he was one of the most entertaining we ever met; as a humorist had few equals; and for seeing the comical side of matters was without a rival; as a friend was steadfast and true. We mourn his death as one whose memory is full of pleasant reminiscences and kindly experiences. As a writer he was strong and out spoken. He leaves a wife and seven children. In our future editorial gatherings no one will be more missed than “Charley” Monger. His age was about 50 years.
