The Newton (IA) Journal, Wednesday, Aug. 15, 1894

FATAL ACCIDENET - One of those frightful accidents that we are sometimes compelled to chronicle caused the death of Charles Leipsley, residing north of this city last Thursday.

He was threshing for a neighbor, and when oiling up and in stepping in front of the cylinder his foot was caught by it, and his left leg was mangled into shreds. It was with difficulty that the man was saved from being drawn bodily through the machine. After the limb was amputated he lingered for five hours, when death relieved him of his sufferings.

He was a worthy man and leaves a wife and two children.
