Mingo Items

Another one of the old pioneers of Jasper County and a man widely known in, and inseparable from the history of Clear Creek Township, has been suddenly called away. James Plum, Sr., seemed to be in usual health Thursday and even more sprightly than usual for him. He retired in usual good spirits. Shortly before midnight he awoke and telling his wife that he felt choked, began to dress himself. Almost immediately he came involved in the death struggle and in fifteen or twenty minutes more breathed his last. He had been known to have had heart trouble for some time previous. The funeral was held at Union Chapel, on Sunday afternoon and his remains laid to rest in the cemetery here.
