DEATH OF FRANK HATTON.

WASHINGTON, April 30 - Frank Hatton, editor of the Washington Post, who was stricken with paralysis last week, died this afternoon about 4:50 o'clock. A sudden turn for the worse came upon him shortly after noon, after which the final ending was momentarily expected.

The above announcement comes to us filed with sorrow. He was among our earliest Iowa friends. As editor of the Mt. Pleasant Journal, and first President of the Iowa Editorial Association, was our association with him an intimate one. He was subsequently one of the proprietors of the Burlington Hawkeye, established a daily at Chicago, and finally the Washington Post, which has become one of the most prosperous and influential newspapers of the Union.

In all relations of life, Frank Hatton had a character worthy of imitation. He must have been about 60 years of age.
