The Newton (IA) Journal, Wednesday, April 11, 1894

ASLEEP IN JESUS - Early last Monday morning, April 9th, a devoted wife and mother left her frail, earthly tenement for an incorruptible one, crowned with eternal health and youth.

Mrs. Dell Agnew-Chapman was born in Green Castle, Iowa, Aug. 18, 1861. Her girlhood was spent in Newton and it was here that she was married to F. H. Chapman, Jan. 9, 1887. Since then, their home has been mostly in Hastings, Nebraska. She came home last October for a visit. She was sick then and before returning, became too ill to travel. Consumption had fastened its fangs in her constitution, from which she never recovered.

She leaves her husband and one four year old child, dear little Kate, who is unconscious of her loss. The mother's last loving thoughts were concerning her welfare, Mrs. Agnew's Christian life was very bright, the light of it shining all through her sickness, even unto death.

The funeral will be held at the home of her father, J. S. Agnew, at two o'clock, this (Wednesday) afternoon, Rev. E. C. Brooks having the supervision of it.
