Anna Benjamin Dies at Hospital

Mrs. Anna Benjamin, 68, Newton resident her entire life, died at Skiff hospital Tuesday evening after a long illness.

Surviving are her husband William; a son William Benjamin Jr. of Newton; one daughter Mrs. Wayne (Cresse) Copenhaver of Laurel; one nephew, Vernon Rasmussen of Newton, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at First Luthern Church at 1 p. m. Friday with the Rev. Phillip Biblehimer officiating.

Mrs. Benjamin was born in Newton, Oct. 22, 1888, and married William Benjamin June 20, 1923 at Marshalltown. She was a former employee of the Vernon Company.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church at Newton since childhood and played the organ for church and Sunday School for many years. She also sang in the church choir.

Other organizations she was active in included Maccabees, Rebecca Lodge, and Palo Alto Grange.
