Stroke Fatal to Mrs. Longren, 65
Newton Woman Dies Thursday as Result of a Stroke suffered May 23

Mrs. Enoch Longren, 65, died Thursday night about 3:30 p.m. at her home, 440 North Second Avenue, West, as a result of a stroke suffered May 23.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Murdoch funeral home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. by Dr. John W. Bickett, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church. Interment will be made in the Palo Alto cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Benjamin Longren, daugther of Richard and Sarah Benjamin, was born in Des Moines April 2, 1871, and came with her parents to farm south of Newton when she was a small child.

She was married to Enoch Longren at Newton, Oct 2, 1889. and to this union six children were born, all of whom survive.

The couple began housekeeping on a farm south of Newton and then moved to Seever, IA, later purchasing a farm southeast of Colfax. They moved to Newton 17 years ago [1919] where they have lived since.

Although baptised in the Baptist church, she and her husband affilliated with the Palo Alto United Presybyterian church after their marriage.

Surviving relatives include her husband, three sons, Richard, Vern and William of Newton; three daughters Mrs. Edith Faidley and Mrs. Pearl Hummel of Colfax and Mrs. Edna Breckenridge of Mansfield, O.; and 17 grandchildren.

Two brothers, William and David Benjamin, and a sister Mrs. Rachel Rexroat, all of Newton, also survive.
