The Newton (IA) Journal, Wednesday, Mar. 28, 1894

Death of William Loveridge - Mr. Wm. Loveridge died of paralysis Monday morning, March 23rd, 1894, at his home a mile east of town. He had been in fair health most of the winter, and on Friday morning was feeling as well as usual, and in good spirits, when he was suddenly stricken with numbness. He retained consciousness until evening, when he became entirely paralyzed. His wife, who is in quite feeble health, was with him when he was taken ill, and his son Douglas arrived soon afterwards. His daughter, Mrs. Meredith, of Lynnville, was also with him at his death.

Mr. Loveridge was born near Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Dec. 11, 1823, and lived in that state 33 years. There he married Margaret Irwin, she who is now his widow. Moving to Iowa, he first resided in Maringo, but has lived in this part of Iowa for the past 30 years, working at his trade of carriage maker and painter.

While in Ohio, he became interested in religion and united with the church of his choice.

The funeral services was held at the house, yesterday afternoon, and conducted by Rev. Mr. Nasmith.
