Thelma Matheny dies on Friday; services Tuesday

Metz - Mrs. Theodore (Thelma) Matheny, 79, a lifelong resident of the Metz community, died Friday afternoon at the Embassy Manor Care Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Reese Chapel in Newton.

The Rev. Harold Den Hartog, pastor of the Metz Community Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contribution to a fund in Mrs. Matheny's name will be accepted. Memorial may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Theodore; Normie Matheny of Fort Worth, Texas, who was raised in their home; a brother, Fred Engle of Marshalltown; and a sister, Lucie Hurley of Rt. 2, Newton.

She was preceded in death by here parents, a brother and two sisters (sic-daughters), Betty Lou and Sandra. Mrs. Matheny was a member of the ---- rest is gone.- Newton Daily News.
