AN AGED CITIZEN GONE TO REST. – Mr. John E. Seyforth died at his home in Sherman township, on Wednesday morning, August 30th in the 74th year of his age.

Mr. Seyforth was born in Calenda, Prussia, January 1st, 1820, where on Dec. 26th, 2846, he married Miss Mary D. Warner, who born him twelve children. Three little daughters sleep in the cemetery at Caleda, two sons were buried in Minnesota, while the mother, three sons and three daughters are still living. They came to American in 1852, spent two years in Ohio, twenty in Wisconsin, arriving in Iowa in 1874, where they have lived ever since.

The funeral services was conducted by Rev. D. Brown of this city, on Thursday afternoon, at the late residence, after which a large number of friends and neighbors followed the body to its last earth-home in the Independence cemetery. ~ The Newton Journal, Wednesday, September 6, 1893.
