OBITUARY. - CLAGG - Died at the home of his daughter, Mr. L. H. Cope, near Newton, on January 17th, 1894, William Clagg, aged 87 years.

Mr. Clagg was born in Bedford Co., Virginia, February 1st, 1897. In 1833 he was married at Bellefontaine, Ohio, to Miss Elizabeth Campbell, who died at Webster City, August 28th, 1887. - Seven children were born to them, six of whom are now living.

In 1855 they moved to DeWitt county, Illinois, where they lived for thirty years. Some six years ago he came to Newton, and has since made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Cope. He was converted in early life, and united with the Baptist church, of which he remained a consistent member for nearly 65 years.

The funeral was held at his home on Friday afternoon, and conducted by Rev. Mr. Nasmith. After which the remains were taken to Clinton, Illinois, for burial. A son from LeMars, and one from Webster City, attended the funeral and accompanied the remains to their last resting place. ~ The Newton Journal (Iowa), Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1894.
