SUICIDE. - Mr. James Woolard, of Elk Creek township, committed suicide on last Wednesday, January 17th, 1894, by taking a dose of carbolic acid. The deceased was a man about 74 years of age, and had been married twice - the last wife being about 25 years old. He grew despondent about home matters and ended his life. He took the dose about six o'clock and was dead in an hour. The Coroner was notified and returned a verdict death caused by carbolic acid taken with suicidal intent. The deceased is the father of three children by his last wife and several men and women by his previous wife. The remains were buried on Friday, Jan. 19, 1894. ~ The Newton Journal, Wednesday, Jan. 24, 1894.
