Alberta Cunningham Redmond, 79, of Newton died Friday, June 2, 2006, at her home.

A graveside service will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Hillsdale Cemetery in Madrid with Elder John Neef of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Carl and Fannie (Bell) Jagerson, she was born Feb. 7, 1927, in rural Madrid. She grew up in Madrid, then lived in Searsboro and Madrid prior to moving to Newton in 1999. She graduated from Luther High School in Luther. She married William "Bill" Cunningham and was a homemaker. She later married George "Newt" Redmond.

Mrs. Redmond was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dale E. and Lisa Cunningham of Newton; a grandson; one great-grandson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Mary Jagerson of Madrid and Howard and Peggy Jagerson of Des Moines; a sister and brother-in-law, Beulah and Junior Duling of Madrid; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, LaVerne A. Cunningham; three brothers, Ole, Clyde and Cliff Jagerson; and a sister, Edna Adams.
