Cynthia "Cindy" Peters, 49, of Newton died Saturday, May 20, 2006, in Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A funeral service will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. First United Methodist Church in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the morning of the service.

The daughter of Larry and Shirly (Runner) McFarling, she was born Jan. 28, 1957, in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1975. On May 9, 1987, she married Robert Peters at Mount Zion Methodist Church in Newton. She worked in assembly for Maytag Company for 23 years. She was a lifelong resident of Newton and enjoyed jewelry, shopping, fishing, listening to oldies music and family gatherings.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Michael Peters of Newton; a daughter, Lori Peters of Newton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry "Mac" and Kathy McFarling and Shawn and Dorothy McFarling, all of Newton; a sister, Melody and Terry White of Baxter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and maternal and paternal grandparents.
