J. B. Wheeler died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Denniston, on East South street Tuesday morning about 10:30. The immediate cause of his death was Bright’s disease but he has been in poor health for nearly a year.

John B. Wheeler was born in Lincoln County, Ohio in 1832, and reached his 79th year last July.

In 1855 he came overland to Jasper county where he has remained ever since. He saw two court houses built and witnessed many changes in the town and county.

Mr. Wheeler was a member of the Lutheran church and was a good Christian, a good husband and a good father.

Beside his wife there are left five children: Mrs. George Denniston, Newton, I. S. Wheeler, Kansas City; F. M. Wheeler, Parsons, Kansas; Mrs. Will Lister, and Todd Wheeler, Newton. He has two sisters, Mrs. J. Butin of Galesburg and Mrs. A. J. Hayes of Reasnor.

The funeral services will be held at 10:30 Thursday morning from the Denniston home, Rev. W. L. Bright of the Lutheran church officiating.

Death of John B. Wheeler.

J. B. Wheeler, a resident of this city and county for over 40 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Denniston, on Tuesday morning, Nov. 7th, at 10:30 o'clock. Mr. Wheeler's health has been failing for some time, and after the fire at his home a few weeks ago, he was taken to the Denniston home where his death occurred. His age was 79 years on the 20th of July. He was a good man, and a kind husband and father. He is survived by his widow and five children: Mrs. George Denniston, Mrs. W. H. Lister and Todd Wheeler, of Newton; I. S. Wheeler, Kansas City; and F. M. Wheeler, Altamont, Kansas.

Funeral services will be conducted by rev. W. L. Bright, at the Denniston home on East South Street, at 10:30 Thursday morning. ~ Newspaper unknown.
