Opal M. Cavanaugh

Opal M. Horstman Cavanaugh, 88, of Heritage Manor, a resident of Newton for 15 years, died Tuesday, June 26, at the Manor.

Graveside rites will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Cemetery in Mystic.

The Rev. Dave Higdon, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, will conduct services.

Memorials to Mc Cann Village will be accepted.

Johnson-Lange Funeral Home in Centerville is handling arrangements.

Survivors are two sons, Jay of Newton and Frank of Banning, Calif.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lavaughn Hurley and Wanda Houser, both of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe, Dec. 31, 1968, a daughter, Clara, two brothers, Fred and Jerry, and a grandson.

The daughter of Frank and Clara Johnson Horstsman, she was born May 1, 1902 in Centerville.

She was married to Joseph Cavanaugh April 12, 1919 in Mystic.
