DIED - At her home in Newton March 24th, 1893, Mrs. W. B. Ritter, in the 60th year of her age. Her maiden name was Martha L. Shoemaker, and she was born in Chambersburg, Franklin county, Pa., Sept. 10th 1833, and was one of a family of five children. She was married to William B. Ritter, at Massillon, Ohio, July 29, 1862, came to Newton with her husband in 1855, where she has resided. She was among the first settlers in this vicinity. She became a member of the M. E. Church, of Newton, in 1862, and has lived in full accord with the vows then taken, showing by her walk and conversation that she has been with Christ and learned of Him. In all that goes to make up the worthy mother, wife, friend and christian, Mrs. Ritter was a model, and in her death her family, the church and the community loses a valued member. She was the mother of seven children, all of whom were present at her funeral, those from abroad being Melville Ritter, of LaJunta, Cal., and three brothers from Ohio.

Her husband died in June, 1888, since which time her health has been failing. Her funeral took place from the M. E. Church, Rev. E. C. Brooks, officiating. A very large concourse of friends were present and her body was laid to rest in the Newton Cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS. - We wish to return our sincere thanks to the many kind friends who assisted and comforted us during the last illness of our mother.

CHILDEN OF MRS. W. B. RITTER.
