Deceased was the daughter of Elijah and Mary Hackney (the latter deceased;) was born in Jasper county, Iowa, Jan. 26th, 1863, where she has since resided except a few years spent in Kansas; she was married to Charles Berry, Jan. 26, 1891, and moved to Salina county, Nebraska. She leaves a husband, a little son fourteen months old, a father, four brothers, and two sisters, besides a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her departure; her mother and two brothers having proceeded her to the land of rest, but they have the comforting assurance that she is at rest, and that their loss is her gain. She was taken suddenly, although she was troubled with fever and ague. She had a birthright in the Friends church and at the time of her death she was a member of Center Monthly and Lynn Grove Quarterly meeting, Iowa. Her remains were brought home and laid to rest by the side of her mother in Centre Cemetery, January 6th, 1893, Mary Roberts conducting the services. ~ The Newton Journal, Wednesday, February 1, 1893.
