BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Rubye Lorraine (Mathews) Karsten, 80, of Bowling Green, Ky., formerly of Colfax, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at her home in Kentucky.

A memorial service will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Lovers Lane Chapel at J.C. Kirby & Sons Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with visitation beginning at 6 p.m. Another service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Okla. Burial will be at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

The daughter of Ira and Jennie Mathews, she was born Nov. 5, 1925, in Fairland, Okla. She married Jay Karsten in 1962 in Colfax and resided there for several years. After retiring, she lived in Arizona and Kentucky.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Max Kinnaman of Bowling Green, Ky.; a step-son, Terry Karsten of Newton; and a step-daughter, Nancy Hobson of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and a brother, Willis Mathews of Miami, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Everett, Earl and Bill Mathews; three sisters, Opal Mathews, Mildred Martin and Nadine McGinty; and a step-grandchild.
