Henrietta Snook, 95, of Newton died of a heart ailment Monday at home. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be at Palo Alto Cemetery near Newton.

Mrs. Snook was born in Davenport and lived in Newton more than 80 years. She retired as co-owner of Snook Inn.

Surviving are her husband, Bert; two sons, Burton of Newton and Robert of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; two daughters, Wanda Gearhart of Newton and Dorothy Van Horn of Jefferson.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary. ~ The Des Moines Register, June 12, 1991.

Henrietta Snook
Funeral services for Henrietta Snook, 95, of 905 S. 14th Ave. W. co-owner and operator of Snook Inn, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Thursday and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to the Skiff Medical Center Auxiliary.

She died of heart failure Monday afternoon at her home.

Survivors are her husband, Bert; two sons and daughters-in-law, Burton E. and Darlyne of Newton and Robert J. and Mildred of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; two daughters, Wanda (Mrs. Lee) Gearhart of Newton and Dorothy (Mrs. Del) Van Horn of Jefferson; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Helen Van Maaren, in 1988, four brothers, Carl, Harry, Ferd and John Jess, and two sisters, Olga and Margaret.

Mrs. Snook, a homemaker and resident of Newton since she was 8 years old, was a past member of the First United Methodis Church.

The daughter of Peter and Fredrica Flamme' Jess, she was born Jan. 15, 1901 in Davenport.

She was married to Bert Snook Jan. 14, 1921 in Newton. ~ The Newton Daily News, June 12, 1996.
