KELLOGG — Robert H. Townsend, 64, of rural Kellogg died March 7, 2006, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

A private family burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements. No visitation is planned.

The son of Robert M. and Martha O. Underwood Townsend, he was born Sept. 29, 1941, in Chester County, Pa. On May 30, 1960, he married Betty J. Thompson. He served in the U.S. Navy and worked as an electrician for Maytag Company and Meisner Electric.

Survivors include a son, Phillip (Deborah) Townsend of Pennsicola, Fla.; two daughters, Kim Billmeyer and Tammy Townsend, both of Newton; two grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Hill and Heather Townsend; and a half-brother, Robert Townsend.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
