DES MOINES — Arthur N. Boeckelmann, 80, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at Wesley Acres Center in Des Moines.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Urbandale. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. immediately following the visitation.

Memorials are requested to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Urbandale, Our Savior Lutheran Church of Newton, Wesley Acres Retirement Center or Hospice.

The son of Adel Beger and Arthur Henry Boeckelmann, he was born May 4, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo. He lived in Newton for 30 years prior to moving to Des Moines 15 years ago. He worked for The Vernon Company, where he was employed for 30 years and was director of product development. He then started his own company, Babco International, which he ran until his retirement. He was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann; a daughter, JoEllen (Loren) Erickson of Durant; a son, Robert S. (Chris Stolba, fiancé) Beckelmann of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
