August A. Stodden, 90, of 1303 S. 9th Ave. E., died Wednesday, March 22, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which have not been completed.

August Stodden

Funeral services for August A. Stodden, 90, formerly of 1303 S. 9th Ave. E., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 27, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited Sunday after rosary at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Saturday. Visitation with the family will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday.

He died Wednesday afternoon at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

Survivors are three sons, Merlin of Dexter and Gerald and Charles, both of Des Moines; two daughters, Twyla Davis of Cedar Rapids and Charlene Reeischl of Monroe; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Theresia, in 1987, three brothers, John Albert and Adolph; and three sisters, Marie, Margaret and Anna.

Mr. Stodden was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The son of Barth and Anna Radke Stodden, he was born Aug. 3, 1898 in Pierce City, Mo.

He was married to Theresia C. Schoenherr Dec. 19, 1924 in Denison.

Mr. Stodden has resided in Charter Oak, Dexter and Winter Haven, Fla., for 12 years.
