LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Michael Dean Wilcox, 31, of 2208 E. Lowena, Long Beach, Calif., a resident of Newton until 1976, died this morning, Feb. 7, at the Long Beach Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Paul Sandgren, pastor of the First Assembly of God in Newton, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are his mother, Bonnie Wilcox of Newton; a brother, Steven R. Wilcox of Newton; a sister, Joni B. Wilcox of Des Moines; and his grandparents, Russell and Thelma Doggett of Corydon.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert J. Wilcox, Aug 15, 1987, and his grandparents, George V. and LaVina M. Wilcox.
Mr. Wilcox, who had attended the First Assembly of God in Newton, was a General Telephone Co. dispatcher.
The son of Robert J. and Bonnie L. Doggett Wilcox, he was born Oct. 2, 1957 in Newton and was a 1976 graduate of Newton Community High School.
