Funeral services for Dorothy L. Warden, 68, of 709 E. 24th St. S., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Friends may call after noon Thursday. Visitations with the family will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dorothy L. Warden

Dorothy L. Finney Warden, 68, of 709 E. 24th St. S., a longtime resident of Newton, died of cancer Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Dr. Douglas Oelke, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church, American Cancer Society or Hospice of Jasper County may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Lorne of Newton; two sons, Arthur Edward and Steven Loren, both of Newton; two daughters, Cheryl Ann (Mrs. Joe) Chamberlain of Newton and Brenda Joyce (Mrs. Jeff) Thomas of Le Grand; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Also surviving are a brother, Harley Hurst Finney, Jr., of Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown; and two sisters, Doris Jean (Mrs. J. C.) Dykstra of Mountain Home, Ark., and Carol Sue (Mrs. J. A.) Burns of Oran.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Arthur Finney; a sister, Hazel; an infant brother; and a granddaughter.

A member of the First Baptist Church, Mrs. Warden had served as a Sunday school teacher for 42 years and on several church boards, and was a White Cross worker for the American Baptist Women for many years.

The daughter of Harley Hurst and Hazel Seaman Finney, she was born May 18, 1920 in Eldon, attended Eldon schools and was a 1937 graduate of Eldon Community High School.

She was married to Loren Cecil Warden July 17, 1939 in Ottumwa.
