ENID, Okla. -- Merton Valentine, 52, a resident of Enid, Okla., since 1974 and a former Monroe resident, died Friday, Sept. 29, at the Enid hospital.
Graveside rites will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
The Rev. Jerry Mc Gee, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Monroe, will conduct services.
Friends may call at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe after 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Memorials to the Enid Elks Lodge may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are two sons, Gregory of Ames and Anthony of Stillwater, Okla.; two daughters, Jody Valentine of Des Moines and Stacey Valentine of Enid, Okla.; a sister, Myra (Mrs. John) Visser of Harvey; and two brothers, Maurice of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Bernard of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Mr. Valentine, a former employee of the Parsons Co. in Newton and presently employed by George E. Failing Co. of Enid, was a member and former exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge in Enid and had been northwest district vice-president of the Elks.
The son of Mark and Millie Shaw Valentine, he was born Aug. 3, 1937 in Monroe and was graduated from Monroe Community High School.
