Brant Vos

SULLY -- Brant “Bernie” Vos, 78, of Sully, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.

Dr. Joseph Brinks, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella this evening and Thursday. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions to the Sully Christian Elementary School will be accepted.

SULLY -- Funeral services for Brant “Bernie” Vos, 78, of Sully, active in Sully church, civic and local affairs, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.

Dr. Joseph Brinks, pastor of the church, will conduct services and burial will be in Sully Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

Memorials to the Sully Christian Grade School Endowment Fund may be left at the funeral home.

Mr. Vos died Tuesday afternoon at the Pella Community Hospital.

Survivors are his wife, Johanna; two sons, Delmar J. of Leighton and Gary W. of Newton; four daughters, Gladyce J. (Mrs. Gilmer) Nyhof of State Center, Janice B. (Mrs. Robert) Pothoven of Kellogg, Nancy K. (Mrs. Loren) Vander Wilt of Pella and Linda F. De Nooy of Pella; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Clazena Roelofsen of Sully, Durkie (Mrs. William) Bandstra of Pella and Laura (Mrs. Andrew) Slings of Pella; and four brothers, Richard, Paul D. and Harold, all of Pella, and Marion of Grandville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two granddaughters, a grandson, two sisters, Adrianna (Mrs. Jack) Jansen and Helen Marie Vos, and a brother, William.

Mr. Vos, a member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church, had served on the church’s consistory and many church committees.

He had also served on boards and committees of the Sully Christian Grade School, the Pella Christian High School, the Christian Opportunity Center at Pella and Dordt College in Sioux Center.

He also had assumed many local and civic responsibilities.

The son of Dirk and Jennie Bruxvoort, he was born July 16, 1910 near Sully and was a graduate of the Sully Christian Grade School.

He was married to Johanna Olsthoorn Feb. 22, 1934 near Galesburg.

They farmed for many years in the Killduff and Sully areas, moving to Sully in June, 1975.
