COLFAX – Funeral services for Gretchen Blanford Cole, 85, a lifelong resident of Colfax, were held today, May 4, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. John McKinsgtry,, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, conducted services.

Burial was in Slaughter Cemetery east of Colfax.

Mrs. Cole died Thursday at her home.

Survivors are a son, James of Colfax; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Royal Blanford of Ames; and a sister, Mary Ellen Robson of Dike.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Albert E. and a brother, Glen Blanford.

The daughter of Charles and Carrie Slaughter Blanford, she was born March 25, 1906 in Colfax.

A homemaker, she was married to Albert E. Cole. ~ The Newton Daily News, Newton, Iowa May 4, 1992.
