Truman Agan
1894-1915

Truman Agan was born to Mr. and Mrs. Seymore Agan near Knoxville, Iowa, December 20, 1894 and departed from this life January 1, 1915 being 22 years of age.

Truman grew to manhood near Knoxville and in the spring of 1911 with his mother moved to their farm between Goddard and Colfax where they have won many dear friends.

He was converted under Billy Sunday’s preaching when a boy and was a member of the Methodist church. He was a strong believer in Christ and was an ideal young man, always willing to do what he was asked at Sunday school or in society.

He was always jolly and had a smile for all, was especially fond of children, his mother’s comfort was his aim in life as she was first of all to him. There is not a young man in the community who was loved by more friends than Truman Agan.

On Christmas day he did not feel well and after his devoted mother had done what she could a physician was called and nurse secured and all of this earthly power was done to save his life but when he saw the end was near he said he would meet his friends in heaven and at 6 o’clock new years day his heavenly father called him to his eternal home, being sick just one week.

A short funeral service was held at the late home on Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock and then the body was shipped to Knoxville where the final service was held on Monday afternoon at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Curtis Smith and his body laid to rest in the Knoxville cemetery.

Rev. Pruitt of the Colfax M.E. church had charge of the services at the home and John Davis sang two hymns. The pallbearers were six young friends, Raymond Loninguin, Harry Emmack, Earl Pink, Walter Beals, Lloyd Maggard, and Harry Silbhers.
Those who accompanied the remains to Knoxville were: Messrs and Mesdames Ed Meckley, Chas. Watt and Mrs. J.W. Kartchner, Harry Emmack, Raymond Loninguin and Miss Grace Beals.
