Leslie C. Sabin, formerly of Newton dies

Sidney, NE- Funeral services for Leslie C. Sabin,79, of Sidney, NE.,a former resident of Newton, were held Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Sidney.

The Rev. Stanley Rider conducted the services. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church or to the Cancer Society will be accepted.

He died at Memorial Hospital in Sidney, 7 January 1983.

Holechek Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, Minnie; a son, Donald L. Sabin of Sidney; a daughter Judy A. Barnhill of Englewood, Colorado; two brothers, Edgar Sabin of Newton and Wilbur Sabin of Baxter; five sisters, Mary Swigart of Salt Lake City, UT, Mabel Wheeler of Wausau, WI, Alice Buchanan and Emma Jackson both of Newton, and Irene Zwank of Pella, seven grandchildren and a great- grandson.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Alfred.

Mr. Sabin, a Maytag Co. employee for 21 years, managed a Maytag store in Sidney for three years and had operated the Sabin Standard Service Station from 1948 until the time of his death.

The son of Calvin and Maggie Simons Sabin, he was born Sept. 2, 1903 in Marengo.

He married Minnie VanOstrum June 19, 1929 in Nashua, IA.
