BARNES CITY — Daniel L. "Dan" Shepherd, 32, of Barnes City, formerly of Newton, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2006, at his home in Barnes City.

No services are scheduled. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

A visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted in his name and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Kenneth M. Shepherd and Charlotte H. Snyder, he was born Nov. 10, 1973, in Des Moines. He lived in Kellogg and Newton prior to moving to Barnes City three years ago. He was a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars and fishing.

Survivors include a son, Charles D. Shepherd of Newton; his mother, Charlotte Henry of West Des Moines; two brothers, Kenneth M. "Mike" (Nicole) Shepherd of Marshalltown and Brian Jay Shepherd of Fort Madison; a sister, Katelyne Michaela Shepherd of Knoxville; his girlfriend, Amanda Bell of Barnes City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.
